LESSON POLICY
ATTENDANCE: Students are required to attend all lessons. If a lesson has to be missed in the case of an emergency, please call or e-mail instructor at least 24 hours in advance.
MAKE UP LESSONS: In case of an emergency and a student misses a lesson, a maximum of 2 make up lessons can be given per semester. Please contact instructor by phone or e-mail to discuss a mutually convenient time for a makeup lesson. In the case of an emergency and the teacher misses a lesson, the lesson will be made up.
LESSON TERMINATION: If a parent or student decides to discontinue lessons, please notify the instructor as soon as possible. Tuition and fees are non-refundable.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES: Performances and competitions will be organized throughout the year. Extra group lessons may be scheduled. There will be two recitals each year – Christmas Recital and Spring/Summer Recital. Students will perform memorized pieces that they have worked on throughout the year/semester. This is a great opportunity for the piano students to get to know each other and experience performing in front of an audience!
LESSON REQUIREMENTS: Students are required to be at their lessons prepared and on time. Cell phones must be silenced. Each student must bring a notebook for comments and assignments. Please have your notebook ready to every lesson! All music scores must be available.
PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS: The teacher will evaluate and determine the necessary practice requirements depending on the student’s level and progress. Students must complete the assigned practice requirements for a successful and fulfilling music progress.
PARENT EXPECTATIONS: Parents, please supervise your child’s practice daily. Review the assignments daily and make sure that your child stays focused during his/her practice time. Older students are responsible for scheduling and completing their own practice time. Every student must dedicate at least 5 days per week of regularly scheduled practice time. Completion of the practice requirements are necessary for a successful year of music learning!
*SUZUKI PARENT EXPECTATIONS: Parent must be present at each lesson and take notes of teacher's comments. Books for parents to read are Nurtured by Love and Ability Development from Age Zero by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Supervised practice at home is essential.
Happy Practicing!
